Kiev Sights: the Landscape Alley

The Landscape Alley is a perfect place for unhurried walks, taking pictures, enjoying the landscapes and chatting. The name speaks for itself - it was created to let everyone admire amazing landscapes of historically old part of the city. Kiev sights are numerous, it's hard to see all of them for a short period of time but I highly recommend to visit the Landscape Alley because this is the very peculiar, one-of-a-kind place in Kiev, a fabulous square to liven up your mood. Why? See pictures below. There is also a map attached to help you find the alley.

Until 2009 it wasn't that popular place, mostly the attraction for those taking pleasure from relaxed stroll and landscapes. For the last three years it turned into a powerful magnet for most of the visitors due to its.... playground! You haven't expect this, have you? Believe me, this is on of the fantastic and very beautiful playgrounds I would say for both kids and their parents. First, these are sculptures and mosaic that are unbelievably appealing and can serve an excellent background and entourage for your photo session. There is hardly a person who can resist the temptation to sit on those weird branches or climb into the cat's mouth. Can you?

A thirty meters long cat (or somewhere about it).
A penguin bench from the back.

The tree full of birds. There are light bulbs inside the birds, so they must look nice at night.

The idea was taken from the Princess and the Pea I guess, though the kid sitting on the top hardly resembles the princess:)

The Little Prince.

A funny slide.

Second, this is a special tile used for cladding. Some of them

These are pearly and shiny. This is a close-up picture, they are of small size actually. They look like of different colors though I'm not sure, I think it depends on how light falls.

These are of different shapes and solid color. I liked how they are combined in a single-piece fresco.

Close-up picture of that sleepyhead.

A sad bunny.

Smiling fountain elephant. There was no water so kids climbed it for funny pictures.
There will be the second post with more pictures of the Alley. This was only a part of it.

See, Velyka Zhytomyrska Street is in the downtown close to the tourist rout that always! include Sofiyskiy Cathedral. I've seen lots of international tourists on Sofiyskiy Square, though I haven't noticed them on the Landscape Alley, don't know why. So, in case you will be going along Volodymyrska Street after you have a bite here, passing Sofiyskiy Cathedral by, you can simply turn to the Landscape Alley located in Velyka Zhytomyrska Street, 34 (actually the whole street is beautiful, check it if you have time)
